The medical transcription industry is governed by a lot of general rules, guidelines, and practices that are adopted by practicing medical transcriptionists and medical transcription companies / agencies all over the world. Though they are not hard and fast rules that must be strictly adhered to by all medical transcriptionists and companies, the members of the medical transcription associations that have recommended these rules are expected to follow them to remain in the field. Even those who are not members of such associations can put into practice the good practices and guidelines set forth by the associations. Following are some set of rules that could be considered.
